Wisdom in the Bible is not intelligence — it is skill at living. Proverbs treats it as something closer to craftsmanship: knowing which word ends an argument (Proverbs 15:1), what to dwell on (Philippians 4:8), and when your own understanding has reached its limit (Proverbs 3:5).
Two promises stand out in this set. First, wisdom is available on request: James 1:5 says God gives it generously and “without reproach” — no scolding for asking. Second, it starts with humility: the fear of the Lord is its beginning, which means the wise person is the one who knows they are not the measure of things.
These verses reward slow reading. Pick one, and ask the Proverbs question: what would doing this look like at 10am tomorrow?
