What this site does locally
Get Random Bible Verse is a static website. When you draw a verse, save a favorite, or switch translations, that information is stored in your browser's local storage on your device. This includes drawn-item histories for several tools, favorites, translation and theme choices, the last chapter read, and tool-specific settings. The site reads these values in your browser; clearing this site's browser data removes them from that browser. Normal page, data-file and API requests still reach the hosting service and can create logs, whose retention is not available from this codebase.
Analytics
The site loads Google Analytics 4 only when a valid PUBLIC_GA_ID is
supplied during the production build. The production pages inspected on
2026-09-22 did not expose a measurement ID, so analytics was not observed in
that configuration. If enabled later, Google receives page and device data under
its own terms. You can use a tracker blocker or
Google's opt-out guidance.
Plausible Analytics is also active, served from our self-hosted installation at analytics.lingyi.systems. It is a cookieless, aggregate page-view measurement: no cookies or persistent identifiers are set, and it additionally counts outbound-link clicks, file downloads and form submissions as totals — not the content of what you clicked, downloaded or submitted.
Cookies
The site's reading tools use browser localStorage and sessionStorage rather than application cookies. Optional Google Analytics can set or use its own browser identifiers when configured. No advertising code was observed in the current source or production samples reviewed for this update.
Third-party resources
Pages request Cormorant Garamond from Google Fonts. Public-domain verse data and audio are served from this site's domain, while image cards are rendered in the browser. If NIV or ESV is configured and selected, the browser requests this site's serverless proxy; the proxy then requests API.Bible for NIV or Crossway for ESV. Proxy responses permit CDN caching for up to 24 hours plus a 12-hour stale-while-revalidate window, and the browser stores a selected licensed text in sessionStorage for the tab session. On 2026-09-22 the production capability probe reported both optional translations disabled.
Contact by email
The contact page opens your own email
application using a mailto: link. This site does not receive the form
fields through a hosted form endpoint. If you send the email, your provider,
the receiving provider and their delivery systems process the message.
Your choices and rights
The site has no reader accounts. Clear this site's browser data to remove local preferences and histories from that browser. For questions about an email you sent, contact contact@getrandombibleverse.com. Server and provider log retention or deletion controls are not documented in this repository, so this page does not promise deletion from systems it cannot verify.
