Psalm 103 tells the self not to forget. That makes gratitude an act of memory, especially when attention is dominated by what is missing. Psalm 118 does not say every event is pleasant; it receives the day as a setting in which rejoicing can still occur.
Name one specific gift, who or what made it possible, and one response it invites. Specific thanks is less likely to become a slogan.
2 Corinthians 9:7 focuses on willing rather than coerced giving. Gratitude can move outward without becoming pressure to give beyond capacity.
Do not use gratitude to silence lament or rush someone past loss. A person can name a gift and a wound in the same prayer. When pain needs the foreground, use comfort or verses for grief rather than forcing this shelf to do a different job.
